Ansel Adams
Ansel Adams was a photographer from the early 1900s. Most of his pictures were of landscapes, although he had a few close up photos, such as the one below, titled "Rose and Driftwood", taken in 1932. I recreated the photo by placing a rose on a piece of wood and cropping the picture so the rose was in the upper right of the photo. Ansel's original photo was in black and white and had high contrast so I edited mine to match. -KG

Phil Borges
My photographer was Phil Borges. He takes portraits of people in developing countries, and I loved this photo because of how graphic the picture is. The girl in the original is a prostitute from Bangladesh named Chandi, and my picture is of my neighbor Tiffany. The photo was just striking to me because of the makeup and jewelry the girl is wearing. It adds a lot of character to the photo. -AP

Walker Evans
Walker Evans, a photographer of the 1930s, documented the lives of people during the
Great Depression through his photos. This is a photo of Lucille Burroughs, a farm daughter, who was
affected by the Great Depression. In my recreation photo, I tried to depict the pain and suffering seen in the young girl Lucille. This photo is compositionally balanced with the focal point on the left side. Also tried to imitate the black, white, and sepia hues used in Walker's photo. -HC

Tim Page
Tim page is a photographer who’s famous for his viatnam war photos. My recreation of Tim Page’s photo was inspired by the composition of his photo. I loved how it was set up and with my picture I tried to mimic it. Of course I couldn’t mimic the war feeling it gave me but I attempted to mimic the composition. I tried to give the same leading lines that the original photo had with a small log ,and I tried to put the faces of the Lego man the same direction as the picture has. My recreation is not as good as the original but it does give off a cute vibe!

Edward Curtis
Edward Curtis was a photographer during the late 1800s and early 1900s. His photos show the lives of Native American tribes west of the Mississippi, all the way up to Northern Alaska until the Mexican border. He took pictures of these Native American tribes to preserve and show the world about their culture. To recreate this picture i tried to get my little sister to resemble the little girl in the picture. -CG

Philippe Halsman
Philippe Halsman was a photographer of the mid-1900s with works ranging from fashion and advertisements to portraits. He first blessed the world with his talents in 1932, when he set up his first photographic studio in Paris. His style soon won him over as one of France's best portrait photographers! In my recreation piece, I chose an interesting photo of a lady holding a magnifying glass over her eye to create a focal point. I captured my own piece of my sister doing the same. Both shots appear in black and white, which adds a whole new feel to the portrait. I feel that Halsman never let his clients down when shooting for them. His photos are impeccable and unique to the extent where I myself could differentiate his work from that of another photographer.

Richard Avedon
Richard Avedon was an American photographer in the 1900s. He was known for his
black and white photos, mostly fashion and portraits. This is a photo of Jacqueline De Ribes
and my recreation piece is mimicking her face expression, posture, and mood. I chose to do this photo because not only was it interesting, but it was unique to all his other photos since she was not looking directly at the camera.

Any photo with Lego mini-figures is a good photo.
ReplyDeleteI agree with the Lego comment. Also, this blog is amazing! It's great to see all the student talent!
ReplyDeleteHarrison's replica looks a lot like the original! And Katy's replica with the car in the background really gives off the same feel as the original. The rose is definitely pretty too.
ReplyDeleteHarrison and Christy did a great job imitating the original photo. I also really like Katy's modern interpretation of her original photo. Lots of creativity!
