I was at a park in West Dallas and found her sitting at the picnic table. I asked her if i could take a picture of her, and she was a bit hesitant at first but said yes. I took a picture of her because she is pregnant and I wanted to show my interpretation of time. It shows the stage in life when we prepare to bring in a new life.
I did make a few adjustments to this photo. I edited it in Photoshop. And, I hope you enjoy this photo and understand my interpretation of time. -CG

When taking this photo, I used my Sony DSLR camera. For editing this photo, the programs I used were Camera Raw 6.7 and Photo Shop. In Camera Raw, I increased the exposure and increased the darkness. I also increased the vibrancy to make the pinks and greens stand out more. After sending my finished product to Photo Shop, I cropped the picture to have a more pleasing focal point.
This is a picture of a baby bib that says, “I love my aunt!” This signifies “It’s about time!” because it’s almost time for my nephew to be born and almost time to use the baby bib on him. It is hanging on my bed post waiting for the baby to come.
This is the baby bib that my oldest sister and her husband gave to me when they first told me that they were expecting their first child. At the time that they gave this to me they didn’t know what gender the baby was, hence why it’s a bib for a baby girl. It is important to me because I am patiently waiting for the arrival of my nephew that I’m super stoked to have! -KP

Photography vividly represents the beauty of unspoken communication. It is able to relay a message without the use of words. As they say, “a picture is worth a thousand words.” The photo of the center of the flower depicted above illustrates the beauty and time of nature. It truly captures nature at its finest. Through the art of photography, one is able to discover the purpose, significance, how they came about to capture the image, and the importance of the photo to the photographer.
This week’s assignment was called “It’s About Time.” For this assignment, we were expected to capture and depict the essence of time. I took this photo of a flower because I believed that it truly encompasses all the aspects of time. The growth of a rose takes plenty of time; from the planting of the seed, to the seed sprouting, then gradually growing stronger and stronger to form buds that in the end, result in a beautiful flower. The time it takes for the rose to finally bud is extremely worth it because the beauty it displays.
Through the use of my point and shoot camera, I was able to successfully manipulate the settings in order to fully capture the essence and magnificence of the flower. The extreme macro that was used illustrates the tiniest details of the flower. Using Photoshop, I was able to improve the looks of the picture. By controlling the saturation, contrast, and brightness, I was able to produce a more vibrant photo.
This photo of a flower vibrantly depicts the beauty of God’s creation. Through Him, we are able to enjoy the radiance and glory of all that surrounds us. By capturing this image, I am able to communicate to my audience the splendor of God’s creation and how we should learn to appreciate the simple wonders of nature. -HC

I’m
taking photographs to complete this week’s assignment in Photography I. I also
enjoy taking pictures enough that I do it in my free time too. This picture
fits “it’s about time” because it shows the different levels of matches being
burned over time. The match in the background has never been used, while the
one down the line in the foreground is almost completely burned. Each match
shows the progression a little more in the order that they are lined up.
To
create this photograph, I burned eight different matches to different points
down the matchstick and left one untouched. I lined the matches up starting
from the unburned and ending with the most burned. I used a Canon PowerShot
ELPH 110 HS to take the photo and then edited it in Photoshop. I turned the
contrast, clarity, and vibrancy of the photo up a little bit to make the
matches stand out more.
I
picked this photo as my best one from “it’s about time” because I feel it is
the most successful out of all the photographs I took. I put the most effort
into this setup by taking the time to burn the matches for different lengths of
time in order to line them up by amount of burning. I like this photo because
it has textural elements and is visually interesting.

This is a picture of the Ferris wheel at the State Fair of Texas. I took it for my Photo 1 class for a technology credit, but I also took it for fun. When my family goes to the fair, we love to take photos so that we can look at all of the things we had experienced that day. I took photos the entire day we were there, and seeing the Ferris wheel at night was my favorite part of the day. It was about time it lit up.
I think the picture shows the true essence of the State Fair. It shows state pride and the joy of going to the fair. The beauty of the red, white, and blue lights just makes me, and hopefully others, so happy and proud to be from Texas.
I took it around 9:30 at night as I was leaving the fair. To capture the photo, I stood at the entrance of the fair, set up a nice angle for the photo, and took a few shots of the Ferris wheel. This shot was my favorite because of all of the different colors coming out of the center. It is so colorful and fun, and it just embodies what the State Fair of Texas means to me.
I took it by using a simple “point and shoot” camera by Casio. In the editing process, I used Adobe Bridge to adjust the saturation, vibrance, contrast, and lighting in order for the colors to really pop and excite. - AP
